So, you’ve finished our Acting for Beginners course (or a similar foundation course elsewhere) and you now want to work more closely on scenes and scripts?
This 8-week Scenes and Scripts (Intermediate) course will give actors aged 18+ the opportunity to work on rich and complex scripts taken from modern-day plays, film and television.
Each week will begin with Danny taking 10 actors through a series of ensemble activities and improvisation exercises to help relax and loosen them. And then through thorough textual analysis of selected scenes, the actors will work towards creating compelling and truthful characters who are hungry, driven and connected.
Note: Students are expected to meet at least once a week outside of class time to rehearse. Students will also be assigned new scenes and partners every two weeks and so only those actors with an openness to collaboration and a strong work ethic are encouraged to apply.
By the end of this course, whether you’re aware of it or not, you will have built up lifelong skills that will seep into your everyday lives. You will:
- Become better listeners.
- Become more open to, and tolerant of differing views.
- Become acutely aware of your breathing and emotions.
- Develop a more positive self-image.
- Become more comfortable with self-evaluation and constructive feedback.
Danny was brought up in the western suburbs of Melbourne by Italian-Australian parents. During high school he received a scholarship from Western Chances to enrol in drama classes and he shortly went on to perform the role of Tone Pallucio on the SBS series Kick, Ali in La Mama’s world premiere of Speak English or Die, and Ben in Michelle Lee’s Love. Following that, he was accepted into the Bachelor of Dramatic Arts at NIDA. After graduating NIDA, he went on to perform in Blackrock (Whitebox), Love Me (Old 505) and The Players tour for Bell Shakespeare. His company Hasemann, Ball & Radda have produced I Walk In Your Words for Blood Moon Theatre and ATYP as well as The Serpent’s Teeth for KXT. They will partner with Whitebox Theatre to present Mercury Fur in May 2019. Screen work includes Home and Away and TVCs for AMP and Youfoodz.
