Weeks 1-2: Acting Fundamentals and Ensemble Building
- Acting Techniques Refinement: Build upon foundational acting skills with a focus on emotional authenticity, character depth, and nuanced expression.
- Ensemble Building Exercises: Foster a strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie through engaging activities that promote trust and collaboration.
Weeks 3-4: Scene Work and Character Intensity
- Scene Study: Delve into scenes from contemporary and classic plays, emphasising realistic character interactions and heightened emotional stakes.
- Intensive Character Studies: Explore complex characters, motivations, and conflicts, pushing actors to portray multi-dimensional roles with depth and conviction.
Weeks 5-6: Monologue Mastery and Script Exploration
- Monologue Performance: Hone individual acting prowess by selecting and performing monologues that showcase personal style and emotional range.
- Script Analysis Workshop: Develop skills in dissecting scripts, understanding subtext, and interpreting the layers of meaning within theatrical texts.
Weeks 7-8: Advanced Improvisation and Ensemble Scenes
- Advanced Improv Techniques: Expand improvisational skills with challenging exercises that encourage quick thinking, adaptability, and creativity.
- Group Scene Creation: Collaboratively develop and perform original scenes, focusing on intricate plots, character dynamics, and thematic exploration.
Weeks 9-10: Showcase Preparation and Culminating Performance
- Full Scene Rehearsals: Combine individual monologues, ensemble scenes, and group performances into a cohesive final showcase.
- Dress Rehearsal: Fine-tune performances, work on pacing, and perfect transitions for the culminating showcase.
- Culminating Showcase: Celebrate the end of the term with a live performance, providing a platform for teens to showcase their talents to a live audience.
Throughout the Term:
- Artistic Exploration: Encourage creativity through various exercises, enabling teens to explore their artistic voice and express their unique perspectives.
- Feedback Sessions: Facilitate constructive feedback sessions to refine performances, enhance technique, and build confidence.
- Theatrical Discussions: Engage in conversations about theatrical history, contemporary trends, and the cultural significance of dramatic arts.
This 10-week Teens Acting Class Term is an immersive experience that goes beyond the stage, offering teenagers a platform to hone their acting skills, collaborate with peers, and explore the rich tapestry of dramatic arts.
