Workshop Overview

What if Unicorns ruled the world?
What if Harry Potter turned evil?
What if you and your grandmother swapped bodies for a day?

In this 2-day holiday workshop, students will write and perform short scenes addressing their most fascinating What If. They will brainstorm fantastical worlds, imagine new realities, and rewrite history to see just what the world would look like if they got to design it!

Over the course of the two days, they will brainstorm, draft, write, perform and direct scenes and using simple props, costume and music, they will share these new pieces of writing with their peers. Parents and friends are invited to attend the performances.

Workshop Outline

Welcome to an exciting adventure in the world of theatre! Our Theatre Stars 2-Day Kids Acting Course is designed to ignite creativity, boost confidence, and bring out the performer in your child. Here’s a sneak peek into the action-packed journey your young actor will embark on:

Day 1: Unlocking the Magic of Theatre

Morning Session: Theatrical Warm-Up 

• Fun Icebreakers: Energise the group and set a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
• Theatre Games: Introduce drama exercises to stimulate creativity and teamwork.

Late Morning Session: Acting Essentials 

• Expressive Movement: Explore how body language contributes to storytelling on stage.
• Vocal Exercises: Learn the importance of projection and articulation in theatre.

Lunch Break: 

• A chance for the kids to recharge and bond with their fellow actors.

Afternoon Session: Storytelling on Stage

• Understanding Characters: Dive into the basics of character development.
• Mini Scene Rehearsals: Apply newfound skills in short, playful scenes.

Day 2: Bringing Stories to Life

Morning Session: Scene Exploration

• Scene Assignments: Kids will receive fun scenes to rehearse and perform.
• Guided Rehearsals: Our experienced instructors will provide tips and encouragement.

Late Morning Session: Creative Costuming and Makeup 

• Costume Play: Let the kids get creative with costumes to enhance their characters.
• Makeup Fun: Safe, age-appropriate makeup application for added theatrical flair.

Lunch Break:

• Another opportunity for the kids to enjoy lunch and share their excitement.

Afternoon Session: Grand Showcase

• Full Scene Rehearsals: Put together all the elements for a final showcase.
• Parent Preview: Parents are invited to witness the magic their young actors have created.
